Jealousy and trust

When jealousy turns from a feeling into control and undermines the marriage.

The problem

Jealousy gnaws at one partner: phone checks, interrogations, anxiety over the other’s contact with people.

How we see it

Total surveillance of another’s traffic isn’t safety but distrust that destroys the system itself. Anxiety isn’t satisfied by surveillance.

What to do
  1. Separate the fact (what actually happened) from the fear (what I’m afraid to lose).
  2. Replace control with agreed transparency and predictability.
  3. Work on the anxiety and its roots, not on the partner’s phone.
  4. To the one being watched: offer calm reassurance, but don’t agree to surveillance.
✗ Чего НЕ делать
  • Don’t prove love through reports on every step.
  • Don’t run interrogations and phone searches.
  • Don’t use jealousy as an excuse for control.

Support: trust rests on agreements and predictability, not surveillance. See the trust test.
