Change management

How to get through big changes — a child, a move, a new job — without a crash.

The problem

A big change (a baby, a move, a new job) sharply shifts load and roles, and the couple doesn’t manage to reconfigure.

The engineering model

Changes with no plan and no rollback break production. Big changes must be made deliberately: discuss in advance, redistribute load, leave a margin.

Protocol
  1. Discuss big changes in advance, don’t present them as a fait accompli.
  2. Revisit roles and load for the new situation.
  3. Leave a margin of time and energy — don’t plan at the limit.
  4. After the change, do a “sync”: how are we, what to reconfigure.
✗ Чего НЕ делать
  • Don’t make irreversible changes alone without coordination.
  • Don’t ignore that a change shifts the load on both.
  • Don’t expect it to “settle itself”.

Support: changes are weathered together and by plan. See Roles & access.
